All 'n' All – Earth, Wind & FireView More By Earth, Wind & Fire Our ReviewThere are (at least) two ways to appreciate Earth, Wind & Fire: as high-flying New Age-tinged conceptualists and as a relentless soul/funk/pop hit-making machine. EW&F’s collective desire to groove and seduce while purveying an overall message of cosmic harmony was particularly well-expressed on 1977’s All ‘N All. “Jupiter” (pure pressure-cooker funk, sparked by joyful horns and fervent vocal interplay) and “Serpentine Fire” (a pagan love-fest driven by Latin rhythms) are jams to satisfy the most dance-addicted fan. Sublimely tender ballads like “I’ll Write A Song For You” and “Love’s Holiday” highlight singer Phillip Bailey’s almost unnaturally sensual falsetto. “Runnin’” shows off the ensemble’s sophisticated jazz instrumental abilities. Binding all these elements together is album’s pervasive theme of brotherhood and spiritual unity, expressed explicitly in songs like “Fantasy” and more subtly in ethereal pieces like “Brazilian Rhyme.” The album marked a creative peak for the band, and whether you’re a seeker after astral wisdom or just desperate to get down, there’s a lot to like on All ‘N All.. Customer ReviewsVery Good Album (5 stars)I absolutely love the album and I think that it deserves 5 stars! I really like the song Would You Mind. simply one of the best of all times (5 stars) I bought this album a long long time ago as an adolescent (1977) and making all kinds of new discoveries...then along came EW&F. I thought I loved this band then, but as I grew up and discovered so many other genres of music and lived in other countries, my memories began to fade about this music. When I pulled out the CD again a few years ago, I suddenly rediscovered it and realized, that EW&F are simply one of the best bands e ALL 'N' ALL (5 stars) As a elementary student growing up in Teaneck,N.J. this album amongst Stevie Wonder's albums, Fela Kuti, and Donnie Hathaway were music that made my soul activiate. I created my best choreography and graphics while listening to this soulful and creative music. This album helped me to really express myself and be free! I would like to thank Maurice White, Verdine White, Phillip Bailey and all the other wonderful cats in the band that made BiographyFormed: 1969 in Chicago, ILGenre: R&B/Soul Years Active: '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s Earth, Wind & Fire were one of the most musically accomplished, critically acclaimed, and commercially popular funk bands of the '70s. Conceived by drummer, bandleader, songwriter, kalimba player, and occasional vocalist Maurice White, EWF's all-encompassing musical vision used funk as its foundation, but also incorporated jazz, smooth soul, gospel, pop, rock & roll, psychedelia, blues, folk, African music, and, later on, disco. Lead singer Philip Bailey gave EWF an extra dimension with his...
