Alive! (1975-2000) – KISSView More By KISS Our ReviewIt’s no coincidence that Kiss’ incredible rise to fame came on the release of their first Alive! album. The 1975 double-LP captured the raw essence that had been muted on their three previous studio albums. Air-guitar anthems such as “Deuce,” “Firehouse,” “Hotter Than Hell,” and “Black Diamond” suddenly came, yes, alive. “Rock and Roll All Nite” became the group’s first hit single and their reigning signature tune to this day. Noting this winning formula, Kiss quickly released three additional studio albums and capped their second era a little over two years later with Alive II at the end of 1977 (with a side of five studio cuts). Again, the versions of “Detroit Rock City,” “Love Gun,” “Calling Dr. Love,” “I Stole Your Love” and “God of Thunder” captured the incendiary elements missing from their studio recordings. This collection gathers those two landmark live albums with the 1993 Alive III release that features guitarist Bruce Kulick and drummer Eric Singer in place of the departed Ace Frehley and Peter Criss and the previously unreleased ‘Millennium Concert’ recorded with the original line-up back intact on December 31, 1999 in Vancouver. All is fun if not always definitive.. Customer ReviewsWHAT A DEAL!! (5 stars)Sweet! 70 songs for $1.49! That's just an insane deal. Considering it's a compilation of KISS's two greatest albums, showcasing the live energy of KISS in concert, is even sweeter. Buy this album before they correct the pricing! (5 stars) Not a huge Kiss fan, but this album is priced at $1.49?????? 70 songs!!! And it's all their best. Saw them live before they took off the makeup and then again when they put it back on. It was as if they never missed a beat! Buy this album before the pricing mistake is figured out and fixed! BiographyFormed: 1973 in New York, NYGenre: Rock Years Active: '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s Rooted in the campy theatrics of Alice Cooper and the sleazy hard rock of glam rockers the New York Dolls, Kiss became a favorite of American teenagers in the '70s. Most kids were infatuated with the look of Kiss, not their music. Decked out in outrageously flamboyant costumes and makeup, the band fashioned a captivating stage show featuring dry ice, smoke bombs, elaborate lighting, blood spitting, and fire breathing that captured the imaginations of thousands of kids. But Kiss' music shouldn't be...
