How About I Be Me (And You Be You)? – Sinéad O'ConnorView More By Sinéad O'Connor Our ReviewSinead O'Connor remains a gifted singer who conveys hurt, pain, and even joy with an empathy that makes every word stand on end. With a choir of clearly angry Sinead voices, "Take Off Your Shoes" and the a cappella "V.I.P." take aim at the child-abuse scandals that have rocked the Catholic Church. "Reason with Me" inhabits a junkie's soul with a melody that evokes memories of that time around 1990 when it seemed O'Connor would be a chart-topping force for years to come. "Old Lady" and "The Wolf Is Getting Married" express optimism for love and marriage, surprising considering O'Connor's public lack of success in that department. More in line with her moody brilliance, "Back Where You Belong" lets her voice stretch, break, and wail with an emotional fortitude that’s always been her brightest calling card. John Grant's "Queen of Denmark" has its humorous moments and further asserts O'Connor's artistic dominance. She's always been a peerless singer. Here, the material invigorates her to revisit old heights.. Customer ReviewsEverything I wanted it to be (5 stars)Another tale of emotional beauty. She's incapable of faking it and that's why I love her. A true artist. Brilliant and Beautiful! (5 stars) Truth and honesty flows from her awesome voice! I saw her last night in LA and she was as good as ever, and dedicated "I am stretched on your grave" to Whitney. She is like the child in the story The Emperor's New Clothes, stating the truth when everyone is afraid. A true and talented artist that we have the privilege to hear. Brilliant (5 stars) That's all. Brilliant. BiographyBorn: December 08, 1966 in Dublin, IrelandGenre: Pop Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s Sinéad O'Connor ranked among the most distinctive and controversial pop music stars of the 1990s, the first and in many ways the most influential of the numerous female performers whose music dominated airwaves throughout the decade. Brash and outspoken — her shaven head, angry visage, and shapeless wardrobe a direct challenge to the popular culture's long-prevailing notions of femininity and sexuality — O'Connor irrevocably altered the image of women in rock; railing against long-standing...
