Sad to see the end of the classic Lou Gramm era. (3 stars)
An album that sounds a bit melancholy at points isn't entirely a coincidence, considering the tension that had by now built between vocalist Lou Gramm and guitarist Mick Jones. Even though it would be another three years before the enevitable actually happened, the tension and sadness of this album is indicitive of the eminent departure of Lou Gramm. The album's second track, Can't Wait, perhaps sums up the situation within the Foreigner cam

This is my ultimate favorite Foreigner album. It brings back so many great memories of the late 80's.

While quite a few arena rock acts of the '70s found the transformation into the '80s quite difficult, several acts continued to flourish and enjoyed some of their biggest commercial success: Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon, and especially Foreigner. Foreigner's leader from the beginning has been British guitarist Mick Jones, who first broke into the music biz as a "hired gun" of sorts, appearing on recordings by George Harrison and Peter Frampton, and as part of a later-day version of hard rockers...
