That's the Way of the World – Earth, Wind & FireView More By Earth, Wind & Fire Our ReviewThe soundtrack to a movie that hardly anyone ever saw, That's the Way of the World ultimately made it on its own. The album that put Earth, Wind & Fire over the top in commercial terms, Way also spawned some of the band's most well-loved music. "Shining Star" is one of the beefiest funk-rock guitar jams ever, topped off with an amazing vocal blend that restates Sly Stone's lesson that everybody gets to shine. The band works out its jazz jones on "Africano," while "Happy Feelin'" is hardly more than a syncopated, melodic chant — and no less perfect an expression of EWF's ethos. Finally, the album contains two of the dreamiest things they ever recorded — "Reasons" and the title track. The five bonus "sketches" from the vault are enticing listening for anyone who wants to grasp how these guys did it.. Customer ReviewsThat's The Way Of The World (5 stars)I have been following EWF, since 1974 Head To The Sky album. I will let you guys know that this is their best album of all times ever. They are probably the best R&B live band ever with Frankie Beverly & maze a close second. The Signature Album of an Era (5 stars) That's the Way of the World is a masterpiece from the definitive artists of the era. It is uplifting, poignant, socially relevant, and romantic. It has no weak cuts, and displays the energy that can only be generated by a BAND; vocals, percussion, strings, and brass...something you can't find in this era. A must for every music collection. As relevant today as is was when it was origianlly released. Best of EWF (5 stars) Every group has a "Definitive" album what is the height of who they are. Just like "Do The Right Thing" was the Definitive movie by Spike Lee. Oney some will know what I'm saying here. All this is one of the top R&B albums ever, and I do mean ever. BiographyFormed: 1969 in Chicago, ILGenre: R&B/Soul Years Active: '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s Earth, Wind & Fire were one of the most musically accomplished, critically acclaimed, and commercially popular funk bands of the '70s. Conceived by drummer, bandleader, songwriter, kalimba player, and occasional vocalist Maurice White, EWF's all-encompassing musical vision used funk as its foundation, but also incorporated jazz, smooth soul, gospel, pop, rock & roll, psychedelia, blues, folk, African music, and, later on, disco. Lead singer Philip Bailey gave EWF an extra dimension with his...
