Lady & Gentlemen – LeAnn RimesView More By LeAnn Rimes Our ReviewLeAnn Rimes makes an interesting move here, recording nearly an entire album of songs written for male country stars and interpreting them from a woman’s perspective. While this in itself isn’t exactly novel (female country stars have sung their male counterparts’ songs for years), what’s new is the level of country classics we’re talking about here; Rimes turns the concept into a challenge. George Jones’s “He Stopped Loving Her Today” retains its elegiac sway. Merle Haggard’s “The Bottle Let Me Down” is slowed to an introspective crawl. Kris Kristofferson’s “Help Me Make It Through the Night” beautifully displays Rimes’ pure country pipes. Produced by Rimes, Darrell Brown, and Vince Gill (whose “When I Call Your Name” is given a powerful workout), Lady & Gentlemen also includes a remake of her hit “Blue” with The Time Jumpers and the bonus tracks “Crazy Woman” and “Give,” where Rimes works up a funk and a grand sway, respectively. At 29 years old, Rimes is an experienced veteran who brings her mastery of her art form to everything she touches.. Customer ReviewsReal down-home country (5 stars)This is back to country as it was back in the day; less production and more feeling and simplicity. It serves LeAnn Rimes well. Despite all the media drama, she is undoubtedly one of the best county singers out here. Goosebumps (5 stars) I buy music based on goosebumps and it's rare that they come. There is something about her voice in these songs that is just incredible. The songs are great. I really like Wasted Days, Wasted Nights and Help Me Make It Through The Night. These songs can stand up to the best of them. Enjoy, this album is a keeper. Unmistakable Voice (5 stars) I have been a fan of LeAnn Rimes since the release of her first single over 10 years ago. This album embodies all that she is as a performer. She sounds amazing on every song! Definitely at the top of my list of favorite albums of the year. BiographyBorn: August 28, 1982 in Jackson, MSGenre: Country Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s In 1996, LeAnn Rimes burst out of nowhere with her debut single "Blue," which immediately captured the attention of country fans across America. It wasn't just the fact that her rich, powerful vocals were remarkably similar to Patsy Cline — it was the fact that Rimes was only 13 years old. Like Tanya Tucker and Brenda Lee before her, she had a hit with her debut single and was barely a teenager at the time. It was quite an auspicious way to begin a career. Born in Jackson, Mississippi, but...
