Family – LeAnn RimesView More By LeAnn Rimes Our ReviewLeAnn Rimes comes to terms with her past and defines herself in the present on 2007’s Family. For the first time, the former country singing prodigy asserts herself as a songwriter, sharing co-writing credit on all of the tracks here. Those who have followed her personal travails in the media will hear echoes of her own story in “What I Can Not Change” and the title tune. “Doesn’t Everybody” (paring her with smoky-voiced Marc Broussard) and “Pretty Things” (a heart-tugging acoustic-oriented number) exalt the value of love over glitter and glamour. Rimes is less successful at playing the down-home Everywoman in “Good Friend and a Glass of Wine” — her powerhouse vocals don’t work as well on this Gretchen Wilson-style tune. She acquits herself much better on the swampy “Nothin’ Better To Do” and the yearning “I Want You With Me,” songs that display the bite and the tenderness inherent in her voice. Duets with Jon Bon Jovi (“Till We Ain’t Strangers Anymore”) and Reba McEntire (“When You Love Someone Like That”) are satisfying show-pieces. The precocious passion and self-control LeAnn showed as a teenager are still evident — but Family finds her also capable of grown-up honesty and insight.. Customer ReviewsGrowing artist proves herself... (5 stars)LeAnn has proven herself as an all around artist with this collection. Her personal life leaks out with incredible vulnerability and determination through her songwriting as she wrote/co-wrote all 12 tracks on this album. The two bonus tracks showcase LeAnn's ability to merge with music superstars. The theme of this album is extremely relatable to everyone, and listeners will find that highly enjoyable. The album's standout track is defi Family (2007) (4 stars) LeAnn Rimes sings country songs beautifully. She has a great voice. RECOMMENDED SONGS: 1. Fight 2. Nothin' Better to Do 3. Something I Can Feel 4. I Want You With Me 5. Till We Ain't Strangers Anymore (You can purchase this song from Bon Jovi's latest album, "Lost Highway".) 6. When You Love Someone Like That (I think this a duet song with Reba McEntire.) Surprised, Best I think I have Heard from her (5 stars) I have not bought a lot of LeAnn Albums, I think just the last country release, and this Exceed's that! I needed to hear some new music, and actually heard the ballad "What I Cannot Change" on Perezhilton.com a few weeks back and was Blown Away. It is superb, really a beautiful song...she sings it amazingly. I also love "One Day Too Long" sounds like Patsy Cline or old-school like Blue...and "Fight," "Upper BiographyBorn: August 28, 1982 in Jackson, MSGenre: Country Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s In 1996, LeAnn Rimes burst out of nowhere with her debut single "Blue," which immediately captured the attention of country fans across America. It wasn't just the fact that her rich, powerful vocals were remarkably similar to Patsy Cline — it was the fact that Rimes was only 13 years old. Like Tanya Tucker and Brenda Lee before her, she had a hit with her debut single and was barely a teenager at the time. It was quite an auspicious way to begin a career. Born in Jackson, Mississippi, but...
