Fly Me to the Moon… – The Great American Songbook, Vol. V (Deluxe Version) – Rod StewartView More By Rod Stewart Our ReviewRod Stewart is one of the world’s most popular singers. Once among the most esteemed hard-rock vocalists, from his days with the Jeff Beck Group to the Faces, Stewart has widened his repertoire to the point that there doesn’t seem to be anything he won’t put his voice on. He battled throat cancer, but he sounds as amazing as ever as he works his way easily through songs that have withstood the tests of time: “That Old Black Magic,” “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” “What a Difference a Day Makes” and “Moon River.” The arrangements are pure popular candy, with lots of strings and vamping for Stewart to play with. In the end, it’s all about the voice and Stewart’s resilience. His hardcore fans may not be completely thrilled with the middle-of-the-road smoothness of “Sunny Side of the Street,” or “Ain’t Misbehavin’,” but for folks with an ear for romantic pleasantries and easy-listening thrills, Stewart understands what it takes to reach across generations.. Customer ReviewsRod, I Love You!!!! (5 stars)Wow!!! What a comeback album and a great collection of fantastic, new recorded songs. I remember another version of What a Difference A Day Makes By Randy Crawford which always have been my favourite one of that song but Rod's version is really the best one I have ever heard. I put it on my greatest-hits-ever-itunes-playlist with other titles from the album Baltic Chill Café and this will make my Day!!!!!! Well....Rod....fantastic work! WHY???? (1 star) Why does Rod keep giving us this drivel? His voice adds nothing to these classic songs. Go buy the originals by Frank and Tony. Even Michael Buble is better than this. Amazing (5 stars) I <3 cheek to cheek. And this is a fantastic rendition of this. BiographyBorn: January 10, 1945 in London, EnglandGenre: Rock Years Active: '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s Rod Stewart may have begun his career as a respected singer, yet that critical respect eroded as he got older, as he became more concerned with stardom and adult contemporary songcraft than the rock music that launched him. While he has recorded some terrible albums — and he would admit that freely — Stewart was once rock & roll's best interpretive singer as well as an accomplished songwriter, creating a raw combination of folk, rock, blues, and country that sounded like no other...
