Shock 'n Y'all – Toby KeithView More By Toby Keith Our ReviewAfter the runaway success of Unleashed, Toby Keith was under the gun to deliver an even stronger batch of good-time anthems and patriotic battle-cries. He came through on 2003's Shock'n Y'all, an exuberantly in-your-face album loaded with All-American attitude and red-state humor. He launches into overdrive party mode with "I Love This Bar," a brew-chugging instant classic. Keith's taste in the fairer sex is celebrated in "Whisky Girl" and "Sweet," while "Beer for My Horses" (a duet with Willie Nelson) waves the flag and raises a glass simultaneously. "The Taliban Song" and "The Critic" gleefully demolish choice targets, foreign and domestic. In a more serious vein, "American Soldier" is a heartfelt salute to selfless men in uniform. All of the above is served up with a high-octane country-rock mix that puts Keith's confident vocals front and center. Shock'n Y'all is pure country-loud, proud, and full-on outrageous.. Customer ReviewsTake this one for what it is really intended to be... (4 stars)Good listening for those who are intelligent and educated enough not to take Toby too seriously. There are some goofy and sometimes outrageous lyrics - Taliban Song for instance - all done in the typical red-neck cowboy experience. If you think HIllary Clinton is hot, you probably won't like this CD and you shouldn't expect political correctness here. Go figure. Country music is one of the last fortresses of down-home cowboy crazy and this SHOCKING!! (5 stars) amazing album with a ton of future classics and somethin our troops can listen to down in Iraq and Afghanistan that will make them proud very patriotic so true and wonderful (5 stars) My son is in the US Army, and during his deployment in Iraq, this past year, American Soldier would make me sing out loud, and cry like a baby, all at once... This song is the truest song i have ever heard, and I am proud to be the mother of a Rakkasan.....Thanks, Toby BiographyBorn: July 08, 1961 in Clinton, OKGenre: Country Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s Toby Keith spent the '90s as a solid, workmanlike country star who met with considerable chart success, yet never quite broke free of the neo-traditionalist pack to become a household name like Garth Brooks or Alan Jackson. That all changed in 2002 when he recorded "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)," a response to September 11 that became one of country's most highly charged political statements since Merle Haggard's "Okie from Muskogee." The media furor ensured that even...
