BBC Sessions (Live) [Remastered] – Led ZeppelinView More By Led Zeppelin Our ReviewAt their inception, Led Zeppelin redefined hard rock for an entire generation. While their studio albums were brilliantly recorded documents of the era, their live performances were oddly left in the hands of bootleggers and the less than completely representative The Song Remains the Same collection. These BBC Sessions capture the group in their early prime, stretching out the mania of their early compositions (“Whole Lotta Love,” “How Many More Times”) and jamming out their love for classic rock and roll (“Eddie Cochran’s “Somethin’ Else”) and sturdy, old blues (Robert Johnson’s “Travelling Riverside Blues,” Sleepy John Estes’ “The Girl I Love She Got Long Black Wavy Hair”). Considering singer Robert Plant’s vocal authority on tracks such as “You Shook Me,” “Communication Breakdown,” and “What Is And What Should Never Be,” it’s hard to conceive that he was still considered to be on trial at this early point in their career. By the time of the 1971 sessions, the band spreads out with increasingly intricate material as their classics “Stairway to Heaven,” “Going to California” and “Thank You” are saturated with an eerie vibe that only these young men could invent and sustain.. Customer ReviewsMy favorite Zep... (5 stars)Seriously, this is about as good as it gets. Page is unbelievable here, as is the rest of the band. The 18:36 version of Dazed and Confused is worth the price of the entire album. Seriously, it's amazing. Wait until about 11 minutes into the song for a mind blowing solo by Page. Also, this version of Stairway is awesome. This version of That's the Way is the most played song on my iPod. It's that good... rare gems (5 stars) zepplin never did any radio sessions besides these. a must for any zep fan. wow is all i can say. Going to California (5 stars) Best Version of going to california/thats the way out there BiographyFormed: July, 1968 in EnglandGenre: Rock Years Active: '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s Led Zeppelin was the definitive heavy metal band. It wasn't just their crushingly loud interpretation of the blues — it was how they incorporated mythology, mysticism, and a variety of other genres (most notably world music and British folk) — into their sound. Led Zeppelin had mystique. They rarely gave interviews, since the music press detested the band. Consequently, the only connection the audience had with the band was through the records and the concerts. More than any other band,...
