The Sound of Madness (Bonus Track Version) – ShinedownView More By Shinedown Our ReviewShinedown wrote 40 songs for The Sound Of Madness, picking 11 of the best to make the cut. Then they road tested four favorites, measuring audience reactions to gauge which two were hit worthy. "Devour" won in spades, followed by the title track. Throwing relentless punches and loaded with razor sharp hooks, "Devour" sets the tone with such victorious ferocity that it was licensed as the theme song for World Wrestling Entertainment's June, 2008 pay-per-view event, Night of Champions, as well as the soundtrack to EA Sports' "Madden NFL 09" video game, in addition to which it was chosen to be featured on ESPN throughout the 2008 major league baseball season. A pounding bass drum and sinister guitar riff begin "Sound Of Madness" as sneering singer Brent Smith rallies young outcasts and deserters. If every angry pariah listened to this call to arms simultaneously, there could be riots and fires in the streets. That an album this heavy and angry hit mainstream radio tells you something about the troubled times, circa summer 2008. From the three bonus cuts, "Energy" is the most driving, "I Own You" is the catchiest and "Son Of Sam" sounds tough as nails.. Customer ReviewsShinedown DELIVERS!!!!! I'll admit that they changed a little after "Leave a Whisper" but in a good way. And they did great acoustics of "Some Day", "Save Me", and "I Dare You" And I have grown so used to listening to old shinedown everyday. Now on the radio I hear "Devour" and think "WTF. Is this shinedown?" But I grow accustomed to it and grow to love it. I listened Third Time is a Charm (5 stars) With their third album Shinedown has truly made a masterpiece. Shinedown is known for amazin lyrics and vocals with strong instrumentals to back that all up. This release just furthers their legendary run. Their first single "Devour" hits fast and hard, but this album truly shines with their slower and more lyrically deep songs. "Second Chance", "The Crow & the Butterfly", "Breaking Inside", and &q BiographyFormed: Jacksonville, FLGenre: Rock Years Active: '00s, '10s Melodic hard rockers Shinedown hail from Jacksonville, Florida and originally featured vocalist Brent Smith, guitarist Jasin Todd, bassist Brad Stewart, and drummer Barry Kerch. Snapped up by Atlantic Records during the early-2000s flurry of post-Creed and Nickelback signings, the group released its debut album, Leave a Whisper, in 2003. Whisper ended up doing quite well for the band (eventually going platinum), aided by its single, "Fly from the Inside." Shinedown also supported it with a heroic...
