Which is to say, she doesn’t just want to make contemporary R&B hits — she wants to change the way contemporary R&B hits are made. Backed by some of the mainstream’s most creative minds (Timbaland, Nate “Danja” Hills, Polow Da Don), In a Perfect World ranks as one of the boldest pop creations of 2009. “Return the Favor,” “Intuition” and “Change Me” are dizzying club tracks, notable for their array of unusual sounds and skittering rhythms. “Turnin’ Me On,” “Get Your Money Up” and “Alienated” initially appear to be determined disco beats, but below the pulse is a panorama of strange textures and polyrhythms that distinguish these songs from others on the radio or in clubs. In between, the simmering sexual tension of “Slow Dance,” “Make Love,” and “Where Did He Go” proves that Hilson can turn up the heat when she feels the need. In a Perfect World shows something much more potent than mere technique: a combination of confidence, daring and high style.

I don't know if either I'm going deaf or if I'm just hearing something different then the other reviewers because this album is one of the strongest debut album I've heard in a long time.
