Our Review

One of the most auspicious debuts in popular music history, this is the ultimate Presley album hands down. Just look at the iconic black and white photo of Elvis in live performance that graces the cover. It feels like he is literally screaming at you to play it. And when you do, it's as timeless today as when it was first released nearly fifty years ago. Consisting of his initial forays into RCA's recording studio, as well as some left over tracks recorded at Sun, there is not a bum track on the entire album. Kicking off in high gear with Presley's version of "Blue Suede Shoes" this album doesn't let up. Killer tracks abound, including Elvis' take on the Ray Charles classic "I Got A Woman" and his eerie, almost supernatural spin on "Blue Moon." If you're looking for where rock and roll began, this is practically ground zero.

Elvis remastered (5 stars)
If you think you know rock, you must own this stuff. Elvis introduced black Music to white kids. I was thirteen when Heartbreak Hotel came out and it was THE revolution. None of us white kids had heard anything like it. Sexy, passionate, and very cool. Everything white culture stood for exploded and we were liberated to think, sing and dance for ourselves. Elvis sang through the lie of segregation and celebrated the beauty of mixing it
