We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things – Jason MrazView More By Jason Mraz Our ReviewJason Mraz's third long player is more Michael Jackson than Jack Johnson this time around. "Make It Mine" introduces the album with a blue-eyed, soul-touched pop that sounds like Mraz has been blasting Off The Wall while en route to the beach. Fittingly, the beachy Colbie Callat duets on "Lucky" (a romantic ditty about falling for a best friend). The playfully perverted "Butterfly" floats with a lofty horn section and a Hall & Oates inspired strut as Mraz gets his seductive lyrics on before somehow pulling off a gutsy scat-singing solo that would make Jamiroquai's Jay Kay blush. Mraz picks up his almost forgotten acoustic guitar on the mellow "Live High" which sounds a bit like Josh Rouse with a groove. The rootsy and cutesy "I'm Yours" is an obvious choice for first single with it's reggae rhythms, doo-wop harmonies, electric jazz piano, and lyrics endearing enough to theme a high school prom, and then there's the all too perfect waltzing "Beautiful Mess" which could have been written for the sole purpose of slow dancing in a rented tux.. Customer ReviewsWSWDWST- Track by Track Review (5 stars)Okay, so this may be my favorite album that has come out this year (so far), and I can't imagine anything being better! Overdramatic? Not really. Make it Mine- This is such a great song! Innovative and completely original. Different from his previous works, but (in my opinion) better. 9.5/10 I'm Yours- At first I was in love with the live version, then I heard the studio recording and thought"wow, this is just as good!" Amazing s We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things (4 stars) We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things, Jason Mraz’s third studio album, easily entertains with its smooth, breezy melodies and clever, insightful lyrics. The upbeat jams (“Make It Mine”, “Butterfly”, “Coyotes”, “The Dynamo of Volition”) are filled with big sing-a-long choruses and passionate lyrics that delightfully dip into a diverse range of genres, ranging from jazz to techno. “Coyotes” is a triumphant blend of hip-hop, GREAT ALBUM! (5 stars) Finally after all those EP's teased his music, the final result is astounding. The songs acoustically were great, but now this adds full band instruments that bring out a different texture to all the songs. A must buy for any music lover, finally some quality music is put out compared to the cookie cutter stuff that I have heard lately. 1. However, it was Mraz's interest and participation in musical theater that served as his first introduction to music.
