Kelly Clarkson masterfully handled the pop and R&B-flavored sounds of Thankful, but it was with the highly-charged modern rock of Breakaway that she truly found her identity as a performer. Her rich voice brings a burning emotional current to the hi-octane riffs of “Hear Me,” “Behind These Hazel Eyes,” and “Breakaway.” “Since U Been Gone” echoes the catchy hard rock of the Foo Fighters, and there are few female singers who can hold their own with such macho material. Then again, Clarkson is not your average cookie-cutter pop star. Every song here packs a convincing wallop, and her ability to shift among ballads (“Because of You”), fist-pumping rock’n’roll (“You Found Me”), and sassy anthems (“Walk Away”) suggests she has the potential to be this generation’s Tina Turner. Clarkson’s greatest strength is her ability to blend elements of R&B, alternative rock, and adult contemporary and make it all her own. Few contemporary singers give it more than Kelly Clarkson, and for the first time since her Idol win she sounds wholly at home.

Kelly Breaks Away (5 stars)
Kelly Clarkson's album Breakaway is by far her most successful, bringing her grammy awards and 5+ top songs. There are defiantly a variety of song types on here from bubblegum pop, to rock pop, to slow ballads. The lyrics in all the songs seem to mean something and are entertaining, never boring. What can I say about this album? Its freakin amazin. So many amazing songs, no wonder she had so many hits on this album. Kelly really shines on all tracks, ther isnt a single song I dont like, and thats hard to come by these days. She has rock out songs, and powerful ballads. Buy it, its one of the best pop albums in recent time. Top 5 Tracks: Because Of You Addicted Walk Away Gone Beautiful Disaster (Live) - so much better than the origin
