Storyline Car theft in Long Beach went down 47% when Randall "Memphis" Raines walked away from the life. He gets dragged back into it by assuming the job his brother Kip screwed up for stolen-car broker Raymond Calitri: steal 50 exotic cars and have them on a container ship by 8 AM Friday morning, and he got this news on a Monday. With Calitri threatening to kill him and Kip, and the police GRAB unit breathing down his neck, Memphis reassembles his old crew and attempts to pull off the logistically impossible.

Did You Know?
Trivia:
Cinema Vehicle Services actually produced 12 different "Eleanors" for use in the production of this film. None of the 12 were actual Shelby Mustangs but converted standard 1967 Mustang fastbacks. Of those cars, seven survived the filming in various states of repair. A 13th Eleanor, based on a real 1967 Shelby GT500 was prepared by Cinema Vehicle Services for producer Jerry Bruckheimer, but that car did not appear in the film.
Goofs:
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers):
When the thieves are quizzing each other over the walkie talkies they assert that Jim Rockford drove a '73 Firebird on
The Rockford Files. In fact Rockford drove a series of tan Firebirds on that show annually updating from a '74 model through a '78, but never a '73.
Quotes: Otto Halliwell:
We're gonna have to go old school on this. A day to shop, a day to prep.
User Review
Great movie - stop giving it such a hard time!
Rating: 10/10
This movie has taken a lot of stick. It was slated by critics when it
came out and was blamed for wrecking Nicolas Cage's career. The thing I
don't think people get is that it's not meant to be an epic, Oscar
contender of a movie, it's just some brilliant "Bruck-buster" action at
its best. Fast cars, quick editing and a great soundtrack - it does
exactly what it says on the tin. Also, for anyone who likes cars its a
pure treat. It has everything: Ferraris, Mercs, a Hummer and lets not
forget Eleanor! I think you'd be hard pushed to find a better action
movie, and personally, a better movie at all!! Then again maybe that's
just me!
