Storyline Erin has just six more weeks as an intern at the New York Sentinel before she returns to San Francisco. That's fine with Garrett since he just got out of a relationship. But their relationship blossoms and it quickly becomes something that they can't just drop in six weeks. They admit to wanting to be boyfriend/girlfriend just on opposite coasts. The distance wears on them, as with their nay-saying friends and sister, and soon they are forced to either break up or come up with a solution that has them living in the same city.

Only the two main characters have complete names: Garrett Austin Scully for Justin Long and Erin Rankin Langford for Drew Barrymore.
Goofs:
Factual errors:
In the scene where Garret leaves California after his visit, he states that he "got the middle seat" after getting his boarding pass from Southwest Airlines. Southwest boarding passes do not assign seats, but have boarding groups instead, so he could not know what seat he would be taking.

Oh. Thank you for the take-out. Garrett:
Sure. It's the least I could do. It is your birthday after all.
User Review
Men - don't be put off just because it looks like a chick flick!
Rating: 9/10
Just been to see this film before its official release and really,
really enjoyed it. As the trailer suggests it's about a long distance
relationship. The storyline is pretty straightforward. It's not the
type of film that will have lots of complicated twists and turns, so in
that context it's fairly predictable, but it's really well acted by the
main characters, particularly Justin Long, Drew Barrymore and Christin
Applegate. There are lots of laughs, and I mean laughing out loud, from
both the men and the women in the audience. For me it's one of the
funniest films I've seen that wasn't an out and out comedy. As the
title of this review suggests, there's something for both men and women
in this.
